it is pretty exciting to have a repeat visitor such as a garter snake. i was taking some things to the compost pile that april made for us and i saw the garter snake that i saw a few weeks ago basking in the sun. It is very exciting. i used to see snakes and great reptiles almost daily growing up in rural PA. the days are few and far between that i see something other then a pigeon, a gofer, a squirrel or a robin. don't get me wrong i appreciate examining them and thinking about there daily routines. it is just that i enjoy seeing the snakes and turtles and chuckwallas! i am guessing that the garter snake has a great food supply around the compost. there are tons of spiders and slugs and other creepy crawlers processing vegetable remains. he has definitely gotten bigger in the last several weeks. i hope that he sticks around.
